Nominations are open for the Annual ISMSP Awards

The Society may award any of the following at its discretion:

  • The Highest Degree of Safety Award-National

This award is presented to the Safety Professional in the United States and its possessions who has contributed most significantly to the reduction of injuries and illness on a national basis.  This award is not limited to the mining industry; however, only Society members in good standing are eligible to make nominations.
 

  • The Highest Degree of Safety Award-International

This award is presented to the Safety Professional in the world who has contributed most significantly to the reduction of injury and illness in the international community.  This award is not limited to mining.  It shall be open to all areas of safety.  To be eligible for this award a nominee must have influenced a positive culture change for safety on an international basis.  Only Society members in good standing are eligible to make nominations.

  • The H. L. Boling Above and Beyond Award

The H. L. Boling Award is presented to mine support organizations or companies who emulate the example set by H. L. Boling, a founding father of the ISMSP.  This award is given to organizations/companies who demonstrate an outstanding dedication to Safety and Health excellence, extraordinary leadership skills as part of achieving an exemplary safety and health record, or has made an outstanding contribution assisting the mining industry with safety and health issues such as program development, training, monitoring and related safety procedures.  Only Society members in good standing are eligible to make nominations.

 

  • The Leadership Award

This award is presented to a Mine Management person (preferably a senior executive) who has significantly stood out as a leader in safety and health/loss control and environment in the mining industry.  Only Society members in good standing are eligible to make nominations.

  • The Guiding Light Award

This award is presented to a member in good standing, of the ISMSP who has consistently worked to advance the health and safety of the miner.  This person must be known to never compromise the safety and health of those in the mining industry.  Only Society members in good standing are eligible to make nominations.

  • The CHAIRMAN’S Award

The Society’s Chair selects an individual each year that he or she believes has upheld the Society’s mission, Code of Ethics and goals.  The nominee will also have demonstrated the most diligent efforts on behalf of the Society.

  • Mining Company Awards These awards may differ depending upon the nomination.  Only Society members in good standing are eligible to make nominations.

Requested Recognition Award for Internal Achievement

If a member of the Society believes his or her company or operation has reached a benchmark or landmark safety achievement, and they would like the Society to present their company or operation a recognition award, they need only to request the award.  Such awards are to be awarded only once per year, and in subsequent years only if the company or operation demonstrates continued improvement.
Company Nomination-for National or International Recognition
If a Society member or member company believes they have achieved a benchmark or landmark status within the mining industry, they may nominate their company or operation for consideration of a national or international award.  These awards will indicate the status or event for which the award is given (i.e., 1,000,000 hours w/o a lost time accident).

  • The BOARD of DIRECTORS and REGENCY Award

This award is given to the ISMSP Business Member, or Individual that has contributed the most significantly to the ISMSP.  The award is not limited to the mining industry.  This award is chosen by the ISMSP Board of Directors.
