Our Purpose
The International Society of Mine Safety Professionals was
founded to promote the development of health and safety professionals
throughout the international mining community. Saving lives
and reducing injuries through better leadership, planning,
and practice are primary goals of the Society. We are a non-profit
organization, recognized as such under IRS code section 501
(c)(3).
As a safety professional you are the front line, the
first point of contact in the day-to-day implementation of
company practices, federal, state and local laws, rules and
regulations. The sheer magnitude of material to intimately
know or at least be conversant with is overwhelming. You are
not alone. Every one of our members faces the same daily challenge.
ISMSP
offers networking opportunities to help solve the many problems
you encounter. Our quarterly newsletter, THE SOCIETY REVIEW,
is packed with current information designed to assist you in
doing your job well. Learn what others have done in just about
any situation you might encounter. Be up to date on the very
latest regulatory developments. Stay on top of where to go
for continuing education.
The Society’s
website, www.ismsp.com,
provides the latest in safety developments, links to
other safety related sources and many other communication
opportunities with peers, consultants and suppliers of
services and information. This is a ‘must have’ for
every mine safety professional.
ISMSP sponsors the highly
prized Certified Mine Safety Professional designation.
The CMSP designation is achieved by passing a rigorous
written examination, demonstrating a thorough knowledge
of mine health and safety for all types of mining and
meeting the prescribed experience requirements.
This certification
is rapidly gaining recognition and acceptance among all
facets of mining and mine support as the health and safety
certification of choice. |
